Itineraries

Day 1 & 2

Arrival at Kasane and transfer to Chobe National Park/Riverfront

The gateway to Chobe National Park and Riverfront, Kasane is located close to the borders of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, Livingstone in Zambia, and Namibia’s Caprivi strip. The perfect way to start your dream holiday in Africa, you’ll be transferred to your accommodation at Chobe National Park or in your choice of the room by the Chobe Riverfront. Explore the fascinating park on an exciting game drive as you spot the majestic lion, magnificent elephant, stunning cheetah, and nearly 460 different species of birds alongside 200 species of reptiles and amphibians.

Whatever the experience you choose to start with, your stay along the banks of the river and/or amid the park will give you the adrenaline rush you need to get into gear for the rest of your vacation.

Day 3 & 4

Transfer to Moremi Game Reserve/Khwai

Take the holiday energy up a notch as you prepare to make your way to Moremi Game Reserve – one of the oldest protected areas of Botswana’s Okavango Delta (charter flights provided). A diverse reserve full of surprises even for the most seasoned of African travelers, Moremi Game Reserve comprises expansive floodplains, breathtaking lagoons, stunning woodlands, acacia forests, and of course, the crowning jewel – wildlife galore. This pristine safari paradise is the perfect spot to make unforgettable memories for you and your loved ones.
Your visit to Moremi Game Reserve isn’t complete without exploring the beautiful village of Khwai located on the northern boundary of the reserve and alongside the Khwai River. Khwai is home to the BaBukakhwe or River Bushmen of Botswana (part of the San tribespeople) who are believed to have been in Botswana for nearly 22,000 years. A birdwatcher’s paradise, be sure to keep your sights firmly fixed on the sky as you spot the African Hawk-Eagle, Gabar Goshawk, and the many varieties of African hornbills. While on land, you’ll be sure to see the abundant wild dog population and predators such as the cheetah and hyena. The marshlands of Khwai are teeming with hippos, crocodiles, waterbuck, and red lechwe. It’s the best viewing area in all of the Okavango Delta for you to take pictures and learn a thing or two about Botswana’s diverse fauna.

Day 5 & 6

Okavango Delta Activities

An officially recognized UNESCO’s 100th World Heritage site, Botswana’s Okavango Delta is the largest inland delta in the world, covering an area of nearly 22,000 km2 during the wet season between November and April. This active, rippling swamp is located in the heart of the semi-arid Kalahari Desert. It is home to many endangered animals, offering a true representation of Africa's wildlife, making it an ideal year-round tourist spot to visit.
Once the charter flight brings you closer to your accommodations on the Okavango Delta, it’s time to take part in seasonal activities (depending on the month of your visit). June to August is a high-water season and allows for the most scenic experience while aboard the mokoro canoes for a water safari. While more animals approach the banks of the delta during the hot and dry months of September and October, during the wet season (November through April) all bird-watching enthusiasts flock to the delta.
Whether you’re new to traveling around Southern Africa or are back in Botswana for yet another safari experience, the activities at the Okavango Delta are abundant and anew every time. If you’re looking to explore the area during the night on foot or in a 4X4, guided tours are also available to facilitate your unique experience.

Day 7 & 8

Central Kalahari/Nxai Pan National Park/Makgadikgadi Pans National Park

Did you know most of the Kalahari Desert lies in Botswana? Keep your eyes peeled for the amazing wildlife roaming the area: wildebeest, kudu, brown hyenas, bat-eared and cape foxes, cheetahs, leopards, and the ever-famous Kalahari black-maned lion. Be sure to watch the skies for kestrels, kites, and the Giant Eagle Owl.
If you’ve chosen to undertake further adventures and stay at the Makgadikgadi Pans and Nxai Pan National Parks, then you’re in for a treat. Both destinations are center stage for the world’s second-largest, yet little-known, zebra migration.
Featuring one of the largest salt flats in the world – the only thing that remains of the formerly enormous Lake Makgadikgadi, the pans at the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park are salt deserts that feature blue-green algae – their only life form. The fringes, however, are salt marshes that feature shrubby savannahs and grassland. While there is very little wildlife during the dry months, the wet months see the migration of several faunas – zebras, gemsbok, and wildebeest in particular, alongside great white pelicans, ducks, geese, and flamingos. The horizon of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans is also vast enough to see the curvature of the Earth – now that’s something you don’t want to miss!
The Nxai Pan National Park is one of the Makgadikgadi Pan salt flats and includes Nxai Pan – an ancient lake bed that was part of Lake Makgadikgadi. The landscape features mighty Baines baobab trees and a waterhole frequented by a pride of lions. During the rainy season, you’ll likely find a lot of animals migrating to the pans to give birth to and nurture their young ones. Both Nxai Pan and Makgadikgadi Pans National Parks offer spectacular game drives and unique safari experiences where you’ll spot everything from the impala to the giraffe in addition to the typical predators and prey of the African wilderness. Camping at the parks is an absolute must to complete your Botswana holiday experience.

Day 9

Onward travel and departure

Brian Jackman once said, “Africa changes you forever, like nowhere on earth. Once you have been there, you will never be the same”. Whether it’s embarking on a safari or observing the largest herd of elephants you’ll ever see, the memories you’ll leave with from your Botswana travels are ones to cherish and forever imprint into your mind’s eye. Whether you’re taking the charter back to Kasane to explore Botswana’s urban life or proceeding to Maun for your onward journey, the magnetic pull of Botswana and all its grandeur will have you coming back for more before you know it.
