Uganda
Uganda is the most rewarding gorilla destination in Africa and the most underrated. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest holds roughly half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas across four trekking sectors, and permits cost significantly less than in Rwanda. But Uganda is more than gorillas: chimpanzees in Kibale, tree-climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth’s Ishasha sector, the compressed violence of Murchison Falls, and boat safaris on the Kazinga Channel where elephant and hippo come down to drink within metres of the bow. Our Uganda expeditions pair primate trekking with classic game viewing, and combine readily with Rwanda, Kenya or Tanzania.
