Itineraries
Day 1
Exploring Windhoek
Upon arrival in Namibia, you’ll be greeted at the airport by a Safari Haute Couture representative, who will whisk you away to your Windhoek accommodation.
Your first day is a chance to acclimatize and explore Windhoek, a multicultural city of 350,000 with a distinctly European feel to it. As part of your first day with us, you’ll be taken on a half-day city tour to see historic sites such as Alte Fest, Christ Church, the Supreme Court building, and more.
Dinner is included at your hotel, but more adventurous travelers might wish to venture out and experience Windhoek’s dynamic dining scene.
Day 2
Windhoek to Spreetshoogte Pass to Sossusvlei
We’ll set out after breakfast today for the picturesque drive south to the world-famous dunes of Sossusvlei. Your drive takes you through Spreetshoogte Pass, the perfect place for a gourmet picnic lunch with one of the best views to be found anywhere in Namibia. Your picnic lunch offers a window into the
European-African fusion predominates Namibian cuisine, as you’ll try game meats, wurst sausages, and fresh-baked bread.
After your lunch is complete and photos have been taken, we’ll continue down to your Sossusvlei accommodation. Once check-in formalities are complete, and you’ve had a cold drink, you’ll have the option to head out for an afternoon nature drive through the stark beauty of the Namibian desert. Finish your day
with a sundowner – beer, wine, or a cocktail – and soak in the serene silence that permeates the region.
Day 3
The Dunes of Sossusvlei
It’s an early start today, as we look to experience the majesty of the dunes of Sossusvlei at sunrise. The rising sun sets fire to the brilliantly red dunes, painting the entire landscape in vivid colours.
If you’re feeling especially energetic, you can start your day with a brisk climb up Dune 45 – one of the largest sand dunes in the world.
From here, we’ll head to nearby Deadvlei, famed around the world for its stark beauty. Here, the blackened stumps of trees rise from a white pan, creating the surreal beauty that saw the area used as a filming location in the Jennifer Lopez movie, The Cell.
Here, you’ll also have the opportunity to stretch your legs with a shorter sand dune hike that affords you breathtaking views of a sea of sanguine sand.
Once your time in the desert is done, you’ll return to your accommodation for a delicious lunch, a dip in the pool, and some time to savour the memories you’ve made.
Day 4
To Swakopmund and the Skeleton Coast
We bid farewell to the Namib Desert today as we make our way to the windswept Atlantic coast. Here, the town of Swakopmund stands as Namibia’s premier beach playground.
Along the way, we’ll pay a visit to the quaint desert town of Solitaire. Like something out of post-apocalyptic fiction, this isolated little desert town has developed a reputation for having the best apple pie in the world. Having tried it ourselves, we can attest to its deliciousness!
Our next stop will be the small town of Walvis Bay. Here, we’ll pay a visit to one of the most remote places in all of Namibia – the lonely lighthouse at Pelican Point. After the heat of the desert, the cool of the coast will make for a refreshing change, and you’ll spend your afternoon viewing the marine
wildlife that calls the region home: including jackals, seals, and huge numbers of bright pink flamingos.
Our final stop will be Swakopmund proper, where we’ll arrive in time for a delicious dinner.
Day 5
Back to Windhoek
After breakfast, its time to hit the road back towards Windhoek.
Stopping along the way at the famous Woodcarver’s Market in Okahandja, you’ll have the chance to buy some last-minute souvenirs from the Herero people who live in the region. Instantly recognizable in their colorful dresses and distinctive headdresses, the Herero is one of Namibia’s most famous tribal people.
We’ll then continue onto Windhoek, where you’ll be taken to the airport for your onward travel.
