From the Air
Scale is the thing photographs never manage. A balloon lifting off the Serengeti at first light shows the migration as a system rather than a scene; a helicopter over Victoria Falls or the Okavango delta reveals the shape of a landscape you have spent days driving across without ever seeing whole. These are short activities, weather-dependent, and almost always booked in advance — balloon flights in the northern Serengeti in particular sell out months ahead in migration season.
