Itineraries

Day1

Cape Town

Upon arrival in Cape Town, an Iconic Expeditions representative will greet you at the airport and whisk you to your city accommodation.

You’ll have the afternoon and evening to spend at your leisure, with our team only too happy to make restaurant recommendations and reservations.

Day 2

Cape Town

Breakfast. Private Afternoon City Tour: pick up from your hotel for a privately guided half-day city tour of Cape Town. Be captivated by the multiethnic character and historical wealth of the Mother City. Cape Town is a rare cultural gem, resulting from the amalgamation of different nationalities and indigenous tribes. Alongside high-rise office blocks, a harmonious blend of architectural styles has been meticulously preserved, including Edwardian, Victorian, and Cape Dutch. Narrow, cobblestone streets and the Islamic character of the Bo-Kaap enhance the cosmopolitan ambiance. The itinerary takes you to the City Hall, the Castle of Good Hope – this pentagon-shaped fort is the oldest surviving building in South Africa; the Company's Garden – a large public park, originally Jan van Riebeeck's vegetable garden, which he grew to feed the original colony as early as 1652; and Signal Hill with spectacular panoramas over the city, before returning to your hotel.

Marvel at the views of Cape Town from the aerial cableway and plateau on Table Mountain. Mother City is synonymous with the striking mountain flanked by Devil’s Peak to the east and Lion’s Head to the west, providing a dramatic backdrop to the city. Table Mountain holds a vibrant biodiversity and forms part of the Cape Floral Region, a protected area. Rock hyrax, or dassie as they are locally known, are often seen scampering through the scrub, and the views from the summit over Table Bay, Robben Island, and the Atlantic seaboard are breathtaking. The cable cars depart every 10 to 15 minutes and rotate 360 degrees as they travel up to 302 meters above sea level, giving passengers panoramic views over the city. Five minutes is all it takes to reach the summit, and once there you can marvel at the sights, have a bite to eat in the restaurant or do a bit of shopping at the extensive curio shop. The cableway only operates when weather permits.

Day 3

Cape Town

Breakfast. Private tour: pick up from your hotel for a full day privately guided Cape Peninsula tour to discover both the Atlantic and Indian Ocean coastlines. Your first stop is at the charming fishing village of Hout Bay, nestled in a picturesque valley on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Then continue along the Atlantic coast to the Cape of Good Hope Reserve and Cape Point, the southwesternmost tip of Africa and the mythical meeting place of the two great oceans. On the return trip, pass through the naval base of Simon's Town and then traverse the fishing port of Kalk Bay and the lush suburb of Constantia. The day will end with a visit to the renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens before returning to your hotel.

Day 4

Cape Town - Victoria Falls

Breakfast. Transfer Hotel to Airport for flight to Victoria Falls (not included, but we can book). Flight Cape Town – Victoria Falls and transfer to a hotel. An afternoon cruise on the Zambezi River.

A sunset cruise on the Zambezi is the only way to end the day in Victoria Falls. On River Song, you can enjoy the scenery and the wildlife of the Zambezi in the lap of luxury. Relax on one of our sofas or comfortable chairs as the sunsets on one of the most beautiful and picturesque rivers in the world. Sightings of hippos, elephants, and crocodiles are common on the river. With a bar on each deck and attentive waiting staff, you will never have to wait for a drink. The staff will also serve you a selection of delicious hor oeuvres throughout the cruise.

Day 5

Victoria Falls

Breakfast.
Guided Tour of Victoria Falls, app 2.5 hours.

Flight of Angels – 12&13 min Flight over Victoria Falls.

There is no better way to see the scale, magnificence, and beauty of Victoria Falls than from the air. A helicopter flight over the Falls is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. As well as the Falls, you get breathtaking views of the Batoka Gorge, Victoria Falls Bridge, and the Zambezi River. We also fly over the Zambezi National Park, so you will have the opportunity to spot the game from the air. Our helicopters have specially developed bubble windows to give you the best view. We also don’t sell the middle seat, so all guests are guaranteed an uninterrupted view. Our helipad is only five minutes from town (the closest in Victoria Falls) and you can see the spray from the helipad. You’ll be over the Falls almost immediately after take-off.

Boma dinner

That is not just another ethnic restaurant but a unique cultural experience. Entertainment throughout your meal from traditional dancers, the Sangoma (storyteller), and a local fortune-teller accompany excellent cuisine, including a variety of game meats and traditional Zimbabwean dishes. The Boma is open for dinner from 7.00 pm until late, 365 days of the year.

The Boma nestles in a Gusu Forest and is partly open to the spectacular African night skies. A feast of nightly entertainment incorporates Shangaan dancers and singers and a local fortune-teller. Guests are welcomed with a traditional greeting in Shona and Ndebele, the local languages. They are invited to take part in a hand-washing ceremony before sampling traditional beer and snacks, as a prelude to dinner.

After dinner, guests are invited to spend an evening with Sangoma, a traditional storyteller, to learn more about the country's folklore, culture, and heritage.

Day 6

Victoria Falls – Chobe Day Trip

Chobe Day Trip Starting from Victoria Falls a Chobe day trip takes you into one of the most impressive National Parks in the world. Chobe National Park, only an hour from Victoria Falls and Livingston, offers a unique opportunity to view some of the best games in Africa. Home to the world’s largest elephant population the park is also known for its large pride of lions and huge buffalo herds, you might also be lucky enough to see the elusive leopard. For birders, Chobe is a delight and is home to over 460 bird species. Interestingly the Chobe River is one of the only rivers in the world that flows in two directions, in the dry season the river flows east but in the rainy season, the Zambezi River pushes upstream to reverse the flow of the river west. The trip is divided into two parts: A morning boat cruise, with game viewing from the Chobe river, and an afternoon game drives through the national park. Each activity lasts for 3 hours and in between clients get a buffet lunch at a local hotel.
