4 days - Kigali to the Virungas
A short, focused journey from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park, built around a single morning trek to meet mountain gorillas in the mist.

Arrival at the capital of Rwanda, Kigali. After completing all airport formalities, our driver will meet you at the airport exit and transfer you to the lodge for a well-deserved rest.
The day will begin with a short city tour followed by lunch. Afterwards, we’ll take you to Volcanoes National Park, named for the chain of dormant volcanoes that make up the Virunga Mountains, which divide the Congo, Uganda, and Rwanda. The park is home to the endangered mountain gorillas and the Dian Fossey Research Base. It comes alive with the sounds of over 200 species of colourful birds and the playful chatter of the rare golden monkey. A walk through its lush bamboo forest, open meadows, swamps, and rugged terrain will surely revitalise your soul and senses.
This day will stay with you: we will seize the rare opportunity to venture into the rainforest of the mountains and spend time with the famous 'gorillas in the fog.'
After an early breakfast, we’ll receive a trekking briefing before being assigned to groups and beginning our hike through the woods. The duration of the hike is unpredictable, as it depends on both the gorillas’ location and the weather. You may spend anywhere from one hour to six or more hours in the park.
No matter how long the hike lasts, the reward is the same: an enchanting hour spent observing these magnificent creatures as they relax, play, and feed in the heart of the jungle.
At the end of the hike, we’ll return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.
For those still with energy, optional activities such as a guided hike to the waterfall or a village tour can be arranged.
For your international flight, we will arrange a transfer back to Kigali.

Waterproof boots with ankle support, gaiters, and gardening gloves for grabbing vegetation. The forest is steep, wet and full of nettles.
Treks start at around 2,500m and climb from there. It is not technical, but it is not a stroll either. How long you walk depends on where the gorillas are that day.
