A three-day fly-in to the central Serengeti, with an optional sunrise balloon flight on the second morning as an extra.
The journey
Dry, clear and cold at dawn, ideal for the balloon. Wildlife gathers near water, and the big cats around Seronera are easy to find.

Fly from ZNZ to the Seronera airstrip, 08:00 – 11:00. Departure times vary with seat availability.
An English-speaking guide meets you at SEU and presents each guest with a bottle of champagne and fresh fruit. Your game drive begins as soon as you leave the terminal.
The Serengeti is home to lions, elephants, leopards and buffalo, and to the Great Migration, and rewards a visit in any month. Lunch is a hot picnic in the shade of the acacias, and you return to your lodge or camp by 18:00.
Start with a sunrise game drive at 06:00, when the animals are most active. You return for breakfast and a rest at about 09:00, then go out again.
As an alternative to the morning game drive, you can take a hot-air balloon safari, followed by a champagne breakfast. This is an optional extra at additional cost.
The morning is yours to shape. Start a game drive at first light, or have a leisurely breakfast and drive along the road to the Seronera airstrip.
Your return flight leaves at 11:30 and lands in Zanzibar at 14:15.

Three days in the central Serengeti, reached by air from Zanzibar. You land at the Seronera airstrip, go straight out on a game drive and spend two nights at a lodge or camp, with a full day on safari in between.
For a different view, swap the second morning’s game drive for a hot-air balloon flight over the plains at sunrise, followed by a champagne breakfast.

If you choose the balloon, pick-up is before dawn and the flight depends on the weather. Dress in layers, and tell us about any mobility or health concerns when you book.
The 06:00 game drive is cold in an open vehicle, especially from June to August. Wear layers you can shed by mid-morning.
The itinerary returns you to the lodge or camp by 18:00 on the first day, so the afternoon is built around daylight and a picnic lunch.
Your flight leaves at 11:30, so you can choose between a dawn drive and a slower start. Decide with your guide the evening before.
A 100 to 400mm zoom covers most sightings from the vehicle, and a wide lens suits the balloon. Bring spare batteries and cards.
